CURTIS DAVIES: ANYBODY CAN LEAD THE PACK

Curtis Davies says anybody can lead the line at Derby County. David Nugent, Chris Martin and Sam Winnall have all started for the team in recent weeks as the manager found best. Martin started the new term before Nugent replaced him. He netted twice against Bolton but he has been replaced by loanee Winnall.

Winnall scored as Derby played a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City but against Cardiff, he struggled. Martin was called on but the game ended in a goalless draw. Coach Gary Rowett does not have a stable pick, rather he calls anyone that can get the job done. With the East Midlands derby match against Nottingham Forest, there is no known man to lead the pack.

DAWSON HAS SOLIDIFIED HULL’S DEFENCE DESPITE OWN GOAL

Davies

Following his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur on a three year contract, Hull City defender, Michael Dawson has been an inspiring figure for the Tigers in their fight for Premier League survival and in the English Football League Cup.

The 32-year-old only returned from a 12-week lay-off in City’s 2-0 loss to Stoke last week and has helped the Tigers secure a win in the EFL Cup quarter-finals away to Bristol city scoring the winning goal in the tie which ended 2-1.

City have been short on positives during a damaging run of seven defeats in eight Premier League games but Dawson’s return to the side has made a huge difference. The Tigers undoubtedly look stronger for his presence in a defence that had been so horribly compromised.

A recall to their match day 10 clash at Vicarage Road, Hull city had a defence that could not be breached for the most part of the encounter as the Tigers resolutely blocked and cleared every attack that came their way. Read More

This was the 11th loss suffered by the team in the 12 away matches. This dismal away record means that the team has to take as much points as possible in the home matches. Silva was recently brought in as the latest man to lead the club. Even though performances immediately improved upon his arrival, recent results have shown an alarming dip in form.

Teams like Sunderland and Leicester taking points in the last few weeks has resulted in the team making a rapid drop in the league table. Hull have managed just one win in the last five league matches. However, there is a huge contrast in terms of home form. Read More
