The news that Brighton had sacked Chris Hughton after the last game of the season came as a surprise to many. Hughton job never seemed to be under threat despite the poor second half of the season and several of his former players have come out to express their support for the Englishman.

One of such players is Derby County defender Curtis Davies who posted a message on Twitter expressing his disappointment in the decision. Davies played under Hughton at Birmingham in 2011 and became one of the leaders in the team.
