DAVIES CRASHES WITH DERBY COUNTY
Derby County defender Curtis Davies was part of the team that crashed to Middlesbroughon Wednesday night. At the Riverside, Middlesbrough welcomed Derby County who are at the bottom of the English Championship table. The game turned out to be very easy for Boro as they thrashed Curtis Davies and his Derby County 3-0 at home as manager Neil Warnock continues to work well in his job as the Boro boss.
Britt Assombalonga scored the only goal of the first half to give the hosts the lead at the interval. Boro didn’t add to that tally until 71 minutes when Michael Clarke put through his own net. Substitute Marvin Johnson wrapped up the easy win over the Rams with the third and final goal of match seven minutes before full-time. The Boro game with Derby County was one of the matches ofmatchday 13 in the English Championship.
With the result, Curtis Davies and his Derby County teammates stay at the bottom of the English Championship table. The Rams have a wretched record of just one win and three draws from 13 league games. They have lost nine games already this season, which is more than any other team in the Championship.
On their part, Middlesbrough continue to impress a lot of people with manager Neil Warnock in charge of the team. The emphatic victory over Derby County has catapulted them into seventh spot on the standings. They have 21 points from 13 games and are just two points off sixth spot, the last position that’s eligible for playoff. Reading were the early pacesetters in the English Championship but a drop off in result.
The Rams’ poor form led to the dismissal of Dutch tactician and ex-Dutch national team player Philip Cocu. Wayne Rooney has been placed in temporary charge of the team since the exit of Cocu.
